The Trends of the Iraqi-American Relationship under the Obama Administration and the 111th Congress; an 18 Month Review

Introduction:
The American-Iraqi relationship is in a time of transition and with the formation of the Iraqi Government still incomplete there are still a number of questions that remained unanswered as to what steps will be taken next. The complexion of the relationship between Iraq and the United States is governed by the Status of Forces Agreement and the Strategic Framework Agreement. The former has been implemented with haste and the number of American troops in Iraq has been withering and is on pace to be reduced to 50,000 by September of this year. The Strategic Framework Agreement has not received the same amount of attention as the main focus has been aimed towards Iraq's security situation.
