Sayed Alhakim stressed in a press conference following his meeting with the President of Arab Republic of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, that the meeting was fruitful, and he dealt with ways of boosting bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and the political situation that Iraq is experiencing today.
He praised the Egyptian leadership in understanding the reality of Iraq, and their emphasis on the importance of preserving Iraq's unity and Arab identity and the cohesion of its people, and the need for solutions for the political crisis in Iraq to come from inside Iraq.
He emphasized that the current political crisis in Iraq and the delay in the formation of the government over the last seven months, has been a great embarrassment to politicians and the political forces in Iraq. He expressed the hope that the coming days may witness a breakthrough in the crisis and that there be immediate action taken to form a government.
He went on to say "The formation of a government of national partnership involving all large winning lists and the other lists is the right approach to political stability in Iraq, and an important factor that can guarantee the stability of Iraq at this sensitive and critical stage. This is to be met through agreements and understandings between the Iraqi parties to find a specific program and the distribution of roles. This can ensure real participation in the management and political decision of all the Iraqi parties and the winning lists. "
He added "A stable Iraq is critical to providing opportunities and the right climate for investing in the enormous potential that is available in the Iraqi state, especially with the significant improvement in the estimate of oil revenues during the next few years, as well as the huge investment opportunities and offerings available to investors in Iraq,"
He pointing out that these investment opportunities can be achieved only through all-inclusive government. He confirmed that the proposal of ISCI of holding a round table discussion on the basis of understandings is one of the factors that will unify the vision among the political parties and access to the formation of a convincing and reassuring government for all Iraqis.
He praised Egypt's role in supporting Iraq, because it represents a symbol of Arab identity of Iraqis and the Arab world in general. Egypt also represents a heavy influence in the region, making it one of the pillars, and stressed on Iraq's desire to return to a positive Arab, regional, and international role.
In response to a question about the role of ISCI in achieving consensus on the Iraqi arena, he said that ISCI has important and positive relationships with all the Iraqi parties without exception, and seeks to employ these relations to bridge the gap between the various parties, and the achievement of consensus, and pointed out that ISCI had called for the convening of a round table for months and what ISCI is following today is this project and Sayed Alhakim hopes that the government will be formed within a short period.
