A meeting was held between the leading parties of the INA coalition on September 1st 2010. Attending were members from ISCI, the Sadrists bloc, Fadilla Party, National Movement reform, and National Conference party. During the meeting they decided to nominate Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi as the INA candidate for Prime Minister.

"After giving SOL the opportunity and sufficient time for the review of their candidate, and out of our desire to facilitate the task of the formation of the government, today we nominate Dr. Adel Abdul Mahdi as our candidate for Prime Minister " said Khalid Almulla one Of ISCI's leaders.

INA expressed in its statement the hope that "this step will facilitate the task of the National Alliance to solve the crisis of the formation of the government" and that "INA confirms all of its previous commitments to open itself to others, and the need to form a government of national partnership as its part of the National Alliance.
