Reporter / Sadrists have refused Maliki's nomination, is this is the position of INA? Sayed Alhakim / Already, the Iraqi National Coalition has expressed its reservation of the nomination of Mr. Maliki twice. Once through a delegation sent to SOL, and the second time two days ago when INA issued a statement expressing its rejection of his candidacy.
INA has not submitted a candidate yet, although it has a several competent candidates. We have not named a candidate yet because we want give SOL an opportunity to nominate an alternative candidate, because we do not want to be part of the problem, we want to be part of the solution.Reporter / Is this a final decision?
Sayed Alhakim / This is the decision of the INA with all its political forces.
Reporter / SOL has no alternative to Maliki, do you have an alternative?
Sayed Alhakim / If SOL is unable to provide an alternative, then INA has efficient figures. But as I said we do not want to be part of the problem that is why we did not submit an official candidate until this moment to account for that matter.
Reporter / when will the next government be formed, before or after Ramadan? Sayed Alhakim / Of course, we hope that the government will be formed as soon as possible. Today, we face three options to form a government; the first option is the alliance between SOL and Aliraqiah, which seems to enjoy the support of U.S. and then join then those who wish to join. I think it collides with the desire of each of the two coalitions in addressing the prime minister post. The second option is the alliance between INA, Aliraqiah, and the Kurdish alliance, and then open up to others. This option will be active as soon Aliraqiah reaches an impasse with SOL. The third option is that when Mr. Maliki concedes, and SOL submits alternatives, then it would be possible for INA to agree on someone, and then open up to others.
Reporter / In order for you to go with that option, you must obtain the approval of the Dawa Party, will Dawa Party accept this option?
Sayed Alhakim / Therefore, we put the ball in their court to determine alternatives candidates and we will check out their choices positively, and that any option should be national candidate so that we can support him. What is important is that INA is not insisting on the nomination of a specific figure. Reporter / Can you say that there is a considerable risk if Aliraqiah constitutes the next Iraqi government? Sayyed Alhakim / In fact, we in ISCI have made our clear position and said that we not going to participate in government, where Aliraqiah is absent because they represent an important social component. Reporter / What did SOL say about this position? Sayyed Alhakim /Of course, in the beginning they had assessed Aliraqiah in a different way, but today everyone is talking about Aliraqiah as an important partner and leading to talks about the alliance between SOL and Aliraqiah.
Reporter / Yesterday we spoke with the Sadrists and they told us that Ibrahim Aljaafari is their prime minister candidate, do you support this option?
Sayed Alhakim / He is one of the proposed candidates, and as I said we are more likely to await and see what are the options. When there is a chance for INA to nominate a certain candidate , then we will agree with the other forces on the selected character.
Reporter / How about Ahmed Chalabi? Sayyed Alhakim / Every person believes in the political process, if he is acceptable on a national level then he could be an option for consideration.
Reporter / How about Ali Aladeeb? Sayyed Alhakim / He is one of the options which, if SOL nominates him, then we will consult with national forces and we will express our opinion.
Reporter / The former government gave a lot of promises to the Iraqis. Iraqis have lost confidence in the government, what will the new government offer?
Sayyed Alhakim / The truth is that our reservations on SOL's candidate is the result of this particular point. We feel that there are many steps have been taken which were not characterized by enough success in time that we remember some of the important achievements made by the last government We believe it is important that the candidate will be able to achieve harmony between the Iraqi political forces, and be able to build bridges of trust with the regional and the international community, and have faith in state institutions. He must abide by the constitution and be committed to achieving his mandates and should respect the powers of others. Such a candidate will have direct support from us. Reporter / All the points you have mentioned is showing that the previous government was not successful in its achievements and particularly the subject of building the state institutions? Sayed Alhakim / There are lots of serious observations about the implementation of such principles.
Reporter/ we find that there is clear lines obscuring societies and the components in Iraq how can anyone lead the country as a united country? Sayed Alhakim / This is true, no one entity can lead a multi-faceted country. The group should lead the multi-national, ethnic, and religious groups in Iraq, and there are regional and international complexities and Iraq bears the consequences of conflicts outside its own conditions. We believe in the national partnership and the national work to address all the concerns of Iraqis. Reporter/ Is this the biggest challenge you see and work to unite the Iraqi people?
Sayed Alhakim / There is no doubt that the unity of Iraq, strengthens the region and governorates. Building real interests and a system among all Iraqis with the rules the logic and with mutual interests between Iraq, the region, and the world. Which makes the interests of all Iraqis in the new political system and the tenacity of Iraqi land and homeland tied together.
