Sayed Alhakim attended on Sunday, December 25, 2011, Christmas ceremony hosted by Christian Brothers at the Church of transmission of the Virgin Mary in the Mansour district of Baghdad.
Sayed Alhakim was received by His Eminence, President of the Chaldean Cardinal, Emmanuel Delly, who was pleased with the participation of Sayed Alhakim, valuing the national positions of the family of Alhakim in maintaining the ties of brotherhood and love among all Iraqis. Speaking at the occasion, Sayed Alhakim said that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is a recollection of the history of the prophets and an approach to the integration and the building of the society on the basis of the divine values of truth and justice, stressing respect for human rights and the promotion of tolerance and coexistence between humans and the promotion of relations between different religious communities, describing Christians as the main partner in building Iraq. He also praised the role played by Christians in building the new Iraq and defending it, recalling the sacrifices made by Iraqi Christians at the hands of terrorist and expiatory groups, indicating that the major challenges did not discourage the Iraqis on building their country through their strong desires and their history, culture and opportunities for co-existence between them, including various religions and denominations , urging the concerned authorities to provide adequate protection to the Christians. In the same context Sayed Alhakim visited St. Joseph Church and attended Mass Holiday Birth ceremony, where he was greeted warmly by the priests and clergies, who have expressed their happiness for the presence of Sayed Alhakim and his participation in the celebrations on Christmas.
