Sayed Ammar Alhakim president of ISCI met on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Mr. Biden convoyed, at the beginning of the meeting, the respect and appreciation of the American President Obama to Sayed Ammar Alhakim, and praised him for the role he played in promoting discourse in the convergence of views between the political parties and his efforts to accelerate the formation of the Iraqi government.
Mr. Biden also emphasized that the aim of the his visit was to reaffirm the commitment of the United States of America to Iraq, and its commitment to the withdrawal of its troop according to the timelines set in the security agreement. Vice President Biden was also eager to be informed about the results of consultations between the parties concerning the formation of the government.
Sayed Ammar Alhakim praised the efforts of the Vice President to identify the views of the Iraqi political parties, and stressed on the need to preserve the issue of forming a government. He also stressed that the ideas and concepts presented in the past few months had proved that they were not applicable and not admissible. But Sayed alHakim was positive that other opportunities exist today which could have a broader platform to accelerate the formation of the government.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations and agreed to seek to strengthen aspects of technological, scientific and academic areas.
